It's not the case, as you allude, that heat gets absorbed and "hides at the bottom" for years on end.
That's not longnshort's position, that is the position that the people who are pushing the anthropogenic global warming message, are taking. You know, those supergeniuses whose predictive models were used to tax and regulate us to the tune of trillions of dollars. And whose said models have completely broken down and have proven to have zero predictive value. Since their models predicted steadily rising temperatures and the empirical evidence has shown that this hasn't existed in 16 years, their theory is that the heat is hiding deep in the oceans. But I like that you too are skeptical of that "theory".
However, when external forces or influences enter the arena then those harmonies and balances can be negatively affected.Of course, where those "external forces or influences" originate can be the subject of much debate and discussion. The fact of the matter is that in the past the average ocean temperature was "x degrees". For want of a better example, about "y" units of heat entered the ocean and about "y" units left (much according to Newton's Conservation of Energy), in one form or another and things appeared to be in harmony and in balance.We now see an average ocean temperature of "x+%x degrees", no doubt caused by "y+%y" units of heat entering the system. So whatever was content and survived well with a temperature of "x degrees" now appears to be adversely affected by that extra "%y" of energy entering the system.Apparently this can be seen by a deterioration in the Great Barrier Reef, the retreat of ice caps, etc... Those are the facts
Cut the crap with harmonies and balance. At any given time there isn't any harmony, there isn't any balance and there isn't any normal. What we have is a constantly changing conglomerate of cycles that swing wildly from one end to the other in a chaotic dance that not only makes life and the universe beautifully unpredictable, it is what makes life possible.
Your facts about the great barrier reef and the retreat of the ice caps (did you really mean that to be plural?) being evidence supporting your assertion about heat entering the system is firstly, not a fact, secondly your statement contains untruths (an argument for the arctic polar region losing some ice coverage can be made, but the antarctic is growing in both volume and surface area.) and most importantly, it's all been seen before. We are in the latter stages of an inter-glacial period. If one paid any attention to the glacial/interglacial cycle, one would know that not only are the current temperatures not extreme, the CO2 levels are also not extreme. Further, one would recognize that retreating glaciers is exactly what you would expect at the later stages of an inter-glacial period.
What I would suggest is that, irrespective of where one stands on the subject, one should not ignore or reject those genuine scientific endeavors which have taken place, if those very scientific endeavors run contrary to what one would prefer to see presented.
Are you suggesting that we should have faith in the scientists and politicians who have launched these scientific endeavors even when their theories are demonstrably false? and when they have been exposed, in their own words, as having subverted the scientific method? Are you ignoring the scientific endeavors of the skeptical scientists who have shown where not only have the results of the AGW models been manipulated to show the results that the AGW pimps...errr, scientists, expected, but the historic raw temperature data is being rewritten so that, when used as input into the models, it shows the results that they expect? Grab a mirror buddy!
When interrogating a subject as serious as this one is to all concerned, it surely must be approached with a completely open mind and an earnest desire to arrive at a logical and well informed conclusion, irrespective of where that may lead one.
