THE ASIAN FINANCIAL CRISIS IS A GLOBAL POST-WAR TURNING POINT - from the-privateer.com

This is not a "Third World" debt crisis. This is the financial collapse of the "Asian Tigers", the economies held up as the ultimate examples of the triumph of "economic growth" throughout the late 1980s and 1990s. These are the participants in the century of the "Pacific Rim" which Mr Clinton himself lauded so highly in his election campaign of 1996.

The Asian financial crisis can be given its current true size by a statement of basic economic fact. So far, the write-downs in crashed currencies and stock markets, comes to $US 1.8 to 1.9 TRILLION!
