" I find personal attacks EXTREMELY distasteful and I seldom engage in them unless provoked.
I really could(n't) care less who the messenger is, or their politics or morals. Issues must be debated on the observable facts.
And then we need to continue to examine and question those observations to make sure we eliminate all other possibilities.. Leaving only the truth."

I'm certainly with you on the above. That more or less summaries my own position when it comes to engaging in discussion or debate on ANY of the SI boards.

You asked ...

" Have you EVER, before I brought it up, heard about the near 50% decline in Phytoplankton as a possible rationale for the plight of the coral reefs?"

I can't say that I've gone into that anywhere as much as you have. You've obviously done a lot of your own personal research on the subject.
I did come across the subject of the feeding of the coral plant life on one or two documentaries where it was stated that there were deficiencies in that regard. However, you've now exposed me to more aspects. Thanks for that.

The interrelationship between Iron content in oceans and Phytoplankton is also an interesting aspect, especially as there seems to have been some serious and practical research in that regard. I haven't come across that before.
