That seems a little harsh to me, Steve. I love seeing a 32 year old who says he is saving and investing more than half his income, has a very sound investment strategy, and is motivated to maximize his future investment income. He has a great goal, and with the potential for salary increases and perhaps meeting a spouse who shares his goals, it's not out of the question he could retire in his 40s. After an admittedly extremely brief scan of his article, I give that guy a ton of credit. He's probably in the top .000001 percentile of kids that age who is seriously thinking about and investing in his retirement. Wish I had those financial smarts when I was 32.

Edit: on a quick further look, he says he has a 6 figure portfolio. That doesn's seem to gybe with his comments you quoted.

In the process of avoiding living above my means I've completely transformed my life. I built a six-figure portfolio of equity in high quality companies that pay rising dividends to me as a part-owner, and now this portfolio spits out well over $4,000year in completely passive income. That means that for the rest of my life I've got about 1/4 of my annual expenses covered for me - even if I never invest another dime. I've essentially guaranteed myself that I'm going to become a millionaire one day. Beyond just the financial aspects that's a huge burden lifted off my shoulders.
