Hi koan; Re: "We in the blue states get affordable high quality insurance for the middle class and free health insurance for the poor.";

Nothing is "free".

Various states decided not to extend medicaid because they decided that they couldn't afford it. For example, the Nebraska governor's statement on the decision, at the time of the Supreme Court ruling:

Gov. Heineman's Statement on Health Care RulingJune 28, 2012

...
The ramifications of today’s multifaceted Supreme Court ruling are very intricate and deeply complex. Reviewing this decision in a detailed, thoughtful and responsible manner will likely take weeks and months before a complete determination can be made on what this ruling means for Nebraska. One unexpected and convoluted element of the ruling is the unfunded Medicaid expansion is now an option for the states.

As I have said repeatedly, if this unfunded Medicaid expansion is implemented, state aid to education and funding for the University of Nebraska will be cut or taxes will be increased. If some state senators want to increase taxes or cut education funding, I will oppose them. Again, I want to emphasize that reviewing this decision in a detailed, thoughtful and responsible manner will take time before a complete determination can be made on what this ruling means for Nebraska.”

Given the multiple lies and incompetence exhibited by the Obama administration and Democratic Congress, independent voters are swinging Republican.

What's more, the attraction of all those free services will suck expensive cases into blue states. Now look forward to the time when these Blue State budgets start to crack. Think the Republican Congress is going to bail them out with dollars taken from all the states???

Probably not.

It will take a long time (about 20 or 30 years), but eventually you'll see something similar to the Greek problem here. It won't be pretty. And historically, in these sorts of situations, the public eventually votes for the strongman who promises to bring order out of chaos by beating the crap out of anyone who gets in the way.

It all gets back to that old Greek theory of democracy that Plato and Socrates wrote about, the stuff you admired so much. After Democracy comes tyranny. You won't like it.
