The first three years is 100% free to states, then it drops to 95% and finally 90% by 2024 I think. So his comment about affecting other programs is untrue.
He is telling a blatant lie. Just like Texas and Alaska's governor lied about saying they would take care of their own, when they are not going to do anything at all. Lying is still important, even in politics.
The Republican governors are doing it to try and break Obama care and Obama. They are doing it pretty much across the board.
It is a political ploy and they seem fine doing it on the backs of their poorest citizens.
That is cold blooded. I wonder what a wife of my governor e.g. would think about her husband turning down FREE money that would provide comprehensive health insurance for 40,000 of our neediest citizens. One million in Texas.
It takes a cold blooded person that would do that. None of the dem govs did that.
And therein is your difference in the parties!
<< Various states decided not to extend medicaid because they decided that they couldn't afford it. For example, the Nebraska governor's statement on the decision, at the time of the Supreme Court ruling:
Gov. Heineman's Statement on Health Care RulingJune 28, 2012
This is a blatant lie! the feds will fund it 100% for the first three years, then 90%. So take advantage of it. It is the law of the land. Blue states are doing it for their citizens. Red states are not. And red states are the poorest with the least health insurance and Texas leads the way in all their ignorance which they embrace.
... “The ramifications of today’s multifaceted Supreme Court ruling are very intricate and deeply complex. Reviewing this decision in a detailed, thoughtful and responsible manner will likely take weeks and months before a complete determination can be made on what this ruling means for Nebraska. One unexpected and convoluted element of the ruling is the unfunded Medicaid expansion is now an option for the states.
“As I have said repeatedly, if this unfunded Medicaid expansion is implemented, state aid to education and funding for the University of Nebraska will be cut or taxes will be increased. If some state senators want to increase taxes or cut education funding, I will oppose them. Again, I want to emphasize that reviewing this decision in a detailed, thoughtful and responsible manner will take time before a complete determination can be made on what this ruling means for Nebraska.” |
