Major credit cards protect you. I had my Canadian CC comprised 2 times in about 5 years, both times the unauthorized purchases were taken care of by the CC company. The CC card security department called me and asked if I made those purchases, I said no they said no problem and issued a new card. I buy online all the time with it, have been for years.

You don't need special credit cards, the one you are using should be all you need, see:
