I think MU is definitely a consolidation play, much like WDC or STX in 2012, before the benefits of HDD industry consolidation were fully appreciated with respect to sustained higher margins and cash generation for those companies. MU is expected to compete with Samsung and Toshiba now in the DRAM space, although this is much stiffer competition versus what WDC or STX faced when HDD consolidated.

MU is an interesting one all the same, and Einhorn and Klarman clearly see something in it which has not been discernible to date when looking at conventional value metrics.
