When I was 4-5 years old, my dad took a job designing buildings in the Northwest Territories so he could save up enough money to move down to Victoria on the BC coast and start building sailboats. I got to accompany him on a few of the trips he made, including a flight to Iqaluit, then called Frobisher Bay. The main thing I remember is how noisy and rattly the plane was.

We're going to have an exciting time here in BC on Monday when incoming very cold Arctic air colides with a warm wet air mass, likely leading to some snow, but then it's into the deep freeze, well, deep freeze in Vancouver terms. (Winnipeg would laugh.)

It was pretty showery the first few days in San Diego, but warm enough I still broke out the shorts and sandals, and then we got two gloriously warm and sunny days. My goofball dad did have a great time at the party, which featured a chef hired to feed 15 people for $150 a pop. I'm on the right, my nephew is on the left.
