Stupid thing seems to have corrected itself. Around 1:30pm all do a sudden the heater started working again. I had the repair service come out anyway as we have an annual maintenance contract. Thing is, they had just been out here 11 days ago for its annual checkup and pronounced it in good health. He showed up at 7 and spent a good amount of time checking every circuit in the thing and couldn't find anything. We're to call this morning if it does the same thing, but it's now working fine. It's probably waiting until we go back to FL in mid-December.

We haven't had a single problem with the furnace or the A/C in the 7 1/2 years we've been here. Bottom line: no clue as to why it suddenly decided to remind us that it was still there. I told it "Good morning" today just in case that was the cause... it was lonely. It seems happy now. I hope it stays that way. I'm not ready to replace it yet, but it does again, and poof, it's gone. :)
