That's a fairly common symptom of cognitive dissonance..


It also gives one much needed perspective at times. Drinking the kool aid of "party lines" can much interfere with that when pragmatism is needed. IMHO, one needs multiple sources of information to evaluate what is happening politically, and not just stuff that confirms one's own beliefs.
