I spent my 18th birthday in Jasper National Park huddled in a "baggy tent" in the rain. The tent is a tube of visqueen. Run a rope through it, tie off to two trees and toss our gear inside. Spartan, but at 18 it worked for me (when it wasn't raining, I usually just tossed my bag on the bare ground.
