My theory on Obama. It took a long time for me to figure this out, so I thought I should post it on this thread as well as I am pretty sure it is correct and it took five years of thought.

For those who think Obama did not run a left of center campaign, as I told BOW the liberals and kids would never have dumped Hillary for a moderate!
Wolff was right on the money in his recent book where he said Obama campaigned with an outside game and administered an inside game: "Inside game, outside game": It is so clear when you look at Obama that way. What is an inside and outside game? An outside game is when you take it to the people and confront the insiders over policy. What he talked about on his campaign!

An inside game is when you use the insiders to make policy, which means indulging their political baggage like paying off their moneymen like Wall street, the banks, farmers or simple right wing obstructionists and corporations.

Example:

Obama won the nomination with a total outside game. He took on the Clinton machine for Christ's sake. There was no inside game for him there at all. Nada, nothing.

The minute he won election he switched to an inside game. Now imagine how startling that was to his campaign workers. All they had heard was an outside game, now he was changing everything. The liberals rebelled and Obama, Rahm and Gibbs told them to quit whining.

So let's look at the evidence.

When an executive is elected they usually pull from seasoned politico's. But some politico's are more willing to be compliant than others. Obama wanted compliant folks. Why he chose Summers and Geithner over Stiglitz and Krugman.

First, the reason Obama told Reid to leave Lieberman and Nelson alone was he felt they were integral to an inside game. In fact schmoozing all of the congress was an inside game strategy.

And looking at the possible appointments as inside, or outside folks, and it is as clear as a bell.

Rahm-inside and junk yard dog

Bill Moyers-outside

Summers-inside

Geithner-inside

Stiglitz and Krugman-outside.

Robert Reich-outside

Howard Dean and Westly Clark-outside

Tom Daschle-ultimate insider and junk yard dog

Gates and Petraeus-inside

Bill Daley and many of the Clintons folks-inside

etc-pick anyone; and when he did pull in outside folks he put them under and inside person e.g. Roemer and Volker who were emasculated by Summers.

Every move he made was an inside game as president.

But as he ran an outside campaign, it was logical for many to expect him to continue with his outside game.
