I always felt that the liberal way of thinking was captured beautifully in the Beatles song "We can work it out" (see below).
it is also captured in the thoughts
"if only everyone gave a little extra for health care, everyone could have free health care"
"If only schools spent as much money on girl's sports, more girls would be interested in sports and they could generate revenues for the schools like football and basketball"
"if only more inner city kids went to college...."
"if only more corporations hired minorities....."
"if only corporations made toys for girls that emphasized science and engineering rather than caring for children and making themselves pretty for boys, we would have more women pursuing careers in science and engineering."
The next logical step in the liberal mind is "there outta be a law"
And then you have Obamacare, Title 9, Affirmative Action and toymakers who think that feminine and masculine behavior is learned rather than an intrinsic part of who we are. So if only they made commercials for toys that are engineering themed toys that are targeted for girls, girls will automatically be interested in building stuff. Oh, and why not steal the music from the Beastie Boys and then sue them!
"We Can Work it Out" Verse #1
Try to see it my way, Do I have to keep on talking till I can't go on? While you see it your way, Run the risk of knowing that our love may soon be gone.
Chorus:
We can work it out, We can work it out.
Verse #2 Think of what you're saying. You can get it wrong and still you think that it's all right. Think of what I'm saying, We can work it out and get it straight, or say good night.
Chorus: We can work it out, We can work it out.
Bridge: Life is very short, and there's no time For fussing and fighting, my friend. I have always thought that it's a crime, So I will ask you once again.
Verse #3 Try to see it my way, Only time will tell if I am right or I am wrong. While you see it your way There's a chance that we might fall apart before too long.
Chorus: We can work it out, We can work it out.
Bridge: Life is very short, and there's no time For fussing and fighting, my friend. I have always thought that it's a crime, So I will ask you once again.
Verse #4 Try to see it my way, Only time will tell if I am right or I am wrong. While you see it your way There's a chance that we might fall apart before too long.
Chorus: We can work it out, We can work it out. |
