Has anyone done an analysis on what HDTV or set-top boxes and the like will require in the way of square inches of silicon wafers? For an even smaller market, but still large in wafer inches, is digital cameras and digital vcrs. To me, it seems demand for these devices and others not yet invented will always require new fabs to be built. Owning AMAT in a balanced, personal portfolio just seems like a "no brainer" to me much like owning a good steel co and railroad company in the early part of the industrial revolution.
