Thanks for the link John, educational.

The reasons for the decrease in the rate of increase (still higher than inflation) were many according to the article. Many were temporary. But this one caught my attention ......The Affordable Care Act is also helping hold down costs by changing incentives for hospitals and doctors. This is the right kind of incentive that I think is positive for everyone. BUT going to a different hospital to get hip surgery is moot when you have an accident or an illness. Our entire County for instance has one hospital. No choice for people unless it is real serious and they get a helicopter flight.

My main argument all along has been that health care does not fit the Capitalistic paradigm. You don't haggle prices when your heart stops or you get run over by a fat lady shopping at WalMart. If the fat lady steps on your leg and breaks it, you're going to the closest hospital - same if your heart stops. That hospital has cost - those cost get passed along one way or the other. The more complicated the payment process, the more costly the care.

But, tell you what. Save this post and a year from now if health care cost have gone down stick it in my face and say....... Told you so
