I see Obama as taking the reins just after the Bush Great Recession, the largest economic disruption since the Great Depression ( Not just a run of the mill recession!). He gets blamed for the economy not recovering, I'm not talking Wall St. economy, but the jobs economy that most Americans depend on.

The Bush Great Recession happened right when globalization, cheaper labor countries, and robots taking jobs were really taking off. Those jobs are NEVER coming back. The current unemployment rate is probably the best we can hope for, while the Fed keeps QE going. It may get worse after.

No American president can control the tides of global progress. Which will include 5% of the world's population no longer consuming 25% of the world's resources.

The world's poor demand to rise. They see what can be their life on the TV shows we export, and they WANT it. They'll work way harder than any American to get it.
