I use IE at home and can open a new window from an existing browser session and not have to login or I can start another session of IE and have to login again in the second one. I can't open a second copy of netscape, (I use it at the office) but that could be because it's working under Win 3.11.

The upside of two distinct sessions of IE running is that if one explodes and must be shut down,the other IE session is unaffected.
