Had this not been my first time utilizing iBeacon, I could have purchased the item without talking to anyone in the store.

That's actually just EasyPay... It's been a feature in the Apple Store iPhone App for 2 years. It doesn't actually have anything to do with iBeacon.

Personally, I tried iBeacon at the SF store today, it it didn't do anything other than prompt me to authorize iBeacon in the app, and then show me the class schedule for the store I was in. I don't really see how it will ever be useful for Apple stores-- already there are iPads at every station giving information specific to the products close to them.
