Notwithstanding the future for wind turbines, AMSC has a lot of competition from firms such as PowerOne, now a part of the large Swiss based engineering firm ABB. And they also have competition on the grid side of the business that concentrates on superconducting wire.

The main potential in the next year, as I see it, is a resolution of the matters involving Sinovel, in favor of AMSC. However, dealing with Chinese courts isn't easy. The probability of a successful outcome is low, coupled with the fact that AMSC is running out of cash, forcing it to dilute the shares.

Pretty grim outlook in the short run, at least.
