Oracle and the new economy? We are not talking about God, but only Larry Ellison.

Larry Ellison wanted to do the "obsolscense and replacement" for his company, Oracle. He came up with a network computer, several years ago. He forgot to go to Mount Sainai, Mount Rushmore or Mount Everest. Then he forgot to say "God willing". What he got was a bottle neck in mainframe computers. Now the new G5 IBM mainframe (G3 code name was ARTHUR) has to have 1000 inputs rather than 256. It will be slower than molasses. No future for Oracle now, says the evil market makers, yesterday.

Well this morning some messengers from God, told Larry that all he has to do is obsolete the Oracle enterprise data base and go into the distributed data base business. Well, Mr Ellison who made and lost his money on mainframe data base software, couldn't believe it.

Generous Electric(GE-that Jack Welsh built) was kind enough to remind Mr. Ellison, that GE to be number 1 or 2 or 3, has to have all the reports within the hour. Especially when Jack wants to take some money out of some subsidiaries before they squander it. Replication is too slow. Get the distributed data or else. Maybe Mr. Ellison can get the check sum on the distributed data so the mainframe can know how many hours it is behind.

The new economy was thus saved, God willing said Mohammed, every one now is doing the "obsolescense and replacement", right or else suffered the consequence that Oracle had yesterday.
