You live in a society/tribe. That tribe protects you, builds you roads and water and sewer systems. And repairs them and fights enemies for you. And so it must remain healthy and strong.

You ask how it affects me. Social scientist's know (read Stigltiz latest book on inequality) extreme inequality is very damaging to a healthy happy society. Plus it is just wrong (wrong, know the word?) to let children go hungry or without adequate medical and education possibilities.

This very rich country, as you point out, can't seem to provide universal health care or universal education or a decent standard of living nearly as well as much poorer countries.

We are the only western democracy without universal health care.

Inequality (caused by low taxes on the rich) affects my society and so myself, and is not fair.

Why only 6 % of scientists are Republicans, and 80% lean democratic and over 50% are liberal.

They understand this. Republican's not so much-lol.

Scientists are not going to join the party they know is wrong. They are scientists for Christ's sake.

Think about it.
