Hi Snowshoe-

Nope, not a trick question. It is a northern pike from a bay in Lake Monona. The size limit for northerns on Mendota is 40 inches! The largest northern I caught on Monona through the ice was 38 inches. I also had one straighten out a treble hook on a strong run, trying to pull it through the ice.

Back in my college days, I had a giant northern follow up a rapala off of Picnic Point. I almost wet my pants.
