Is this a turning point away from the bottom of hate politics and bitter political rancor? I don't think so. I think that this vote is a political calculation on the part of the Rs. They believe that Obamacare is a fiasco in the making for the Democrats, something that they will be able to exploit in the 2014 and perhaps even the 2016 elections to regain control of the govt. If they do that in 2016 in particular (that is, if they win control of the presidency plus Congress), their true colors will show. We will get yet another round of "deficit reduction" in which the deficit will explode due to more decreased tax rates, Medicare will be "saved" by changing everything but the name, and SS will be turned into private plans.
