The ecosystem is one of Apple's greatest selling points. Not so much with iTunes music, which anyone with a Mac and PC can buy, download, and play on any device or cloud service of your choice, but Apps and video. I have been particularly pleased when I can get an iTunes version of a movie when I buy a DVD or bluray-- just a lot more convenient having a digital copy. Unfortunately, I've noticed that lately, many of the movies I've bought have Ultraviolet as the free digital copy instead of iTunes-- still can work with Apple devices (except AppleTV), but like music from iTunes, it does not have Apple lockin.
