AP Blows CIA Cover of Captive

They have no proof that the Iranians knew he was working for the CIA -- and in any case just confirmed it for the Iranians if they needed it.

This will make it harder for some people to justify keeping quite about AP journalists who are kidnapped. I know of two who are kidnapped now (not AP) and have not mentioned a word. This ups their price. Despite this indiscretion by AP, I will not be the first to mention when their own reporters get snagged, but they will not have any moral high ground when someone else does this.

Maybe the AP is right to air this in order to knock some fruit from the tree, but this is risky business. It is, after all, possible that the Iranians do not have him and that someone else does.
