>>Just curious if you use a Jaz? I need some more hard drive space and was considering one.
Trying to be very objective here. Looking at the Jaz (299 int vs Sparq 199) sitting on the shelf next to it. Jaz 4 gigs, 600 vs Sparq 4 gigs 300. To the average consumer, $300 will make up ther mind for them. Am I wrong, or am I missing something?<<

Yes, I own a Jaz drive, as does my wife. We're a two-Jaz family. I also use Jaz drives at work.
As I've said before, I think SparQ's pricing makes it quite a compelling product. If I were making my first removable >1GB purchase today, I might well buy a SparQ.
The only advantages Jaz offers for the extra money are:
1 - compatibility with a whole lot of existing Jaz users (this one works for me, since I can use Jaz disks both at home and at work.)
2 - an upgrade path to larger capacities. If I eventually buy a Jaz2, I'll be able to use all my existing 1GB cartridges in it. Not so with SparQ, which is not compatible with the 1.5GB SyJet. Will SyQuest ever come up with a higher-capacity, backward-compatible SparQ? Who knows, but I wouldn't count on it. SparQ uses single platter cartridges, which limits future growth.
That's all I can think of. You'd have to decide for yourself whether the benefits are worth the added cost. But also consider that Jaz disks will almost certainly be coming down in price over time, so the differential will decrease.
