Sure seems that x2 is dead, K56flex is going to rule the world.

That's weird because AT&T Worldnet services (over 600K subscribers) has recently sent me an e-mail telling that they will serve 56K using X2 technology.

USRX traditionally has been able to get to market first.

USRX (now COMS) bet on X2 actually, I think they were the first company in 56K thru telephone line business. If X2 is doomed how are they going to get to the market first? In that case Motorola and Kflex group will get the most of the share being already ahead in that platform.
