My sister translates Greek and there are several other words used in the King James version that misconstrued the true intent. That's why it's fun to play the "telephone" game with children, the further away from the original source, the more errors are likely. I found this explanation when I googled, which appears to have some merit, grammatically anyway. The religious implication of determining the "true" meaning is what wars are fought for*. Not even going to venture. "Matthew 6:9 "After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name." A primary preposition denoting (fixed) position (in place, time or state), and (by implication) instrumentality (medially or constructively), i.e. a relation of rest * I do end sentences with prepositions, as one of the several sayings goes. "Ending a sentence with a preposition is something with up I will not put" Disclaimer: I used to think in high school that footnotes were for expressing your own opinion on a passage.
