SI Admins-

OKAY... here's what is seriously deranged and selfish about this SI message board website...
i haven't said this before because i'm a polite sorta person...

15 minutes to edit a post?
that's crazy...

ANYONE should be able to edit or delete their own content forever... no?
i'm a webmaster for over 12 years and anyone can edit thier own content on my boards.
if someone has already replied to a post, then any author's edits will display a notation that
the author has edited it... and it will display a time and date stamp for the edit. ANYONE
can delete or change their own content at any time.

and here is the kicker that makes me lose respect for this website...

PMs are not private or deletable on SI. i've deleted a thousand and they're all still here.
i know, as a webmaster they are all accessible and readable by your IT crew and anyone
they decide to share them with... and i know there are no confidentiality ethics binding you
in this relatively new media. NSA could have them in a heartbeat and probably already does.

<INSERT ANGRY BIRDS CUSSWORDS HERE>

i don't mind you using my pubic posts to further your own desires for content...
and i think that's in the TOS that i agreed to, but my PMs are off limits to everyone
except the recipient and me.

please delete every one of my one thousand PMs that i have already deleted,
immediately and permanently.

fat chance, eh? or is it slim chance?

thank you. i knew you would understand if someone spoke up about it.
why would you need to archive our private messages? why would you feel
entitled to archive them even after we have deleted them?

censorship is one thing, and i think you're entitled to that because it's your
forum we're using. privacy invasion and private message confiscation is something
i don't think you are entitled to.

eh?

please reply. thank you.

ps- i'm not too angry yet because i'm giving you the benefit of the doubt that the above
concerns are due to program coder's ignorance about social/civil rights and ethics... but let's
address this subject now because the hour is getting late and we need to know whether we can
trust SI to provide some confidentiality for our private conversations and whether they are
going to change the coding that makes our content (private and/or public) uneditable and
undeletable.

pss- next message may contain profanity if you don't fully understand and address these concerns.

sorry to be aggressive in this concern. it's been bugging me for a few years. i should have
mentioned it sooner, before it made me angry enough to post about it. <g>
