I accept the illogic of expressions; but I have fun with them in my mind nonetheless. That's why I said it amuses me. The other expression like the think to yourself one is "enjoy yourself." We enjoy people, things, events, activities, thoughts, etc., but not ourselves. The self is the thing doing the enjoying.
