One frequent misconception about the offspring of mating encounters on this planet is that they result in an intermediate between the male and female parent.

Inherited genes are are (except for rare mutations) either a copy of the gene from the male or a copy from the female. They are not some mixture of both. The offspring in it's entirety is a mixture of genes, but since each gene has a specific effect the difference between a parent and child will be distinct.
