Excellent grist for the discussion.

Eric: Last time I checked all fossil fuels were finite.

Bob: Yes, fossil fuels are finite. As they become more expensive to procure alternates will increase their share in the of the market. I note that the amount of supply is a huge function of price. Just look at natural gas. The market has been flooded with prices of less than $4 per mcf. That is the equivalent of $24 per bbl of oil on a BTU basis. Those on your side of the issue would say the days of cheap nat gas are limited. I submit to you that at $7 per mcf ($42 per bbl of oil) the world will be awash in natural gas long after you and I are gone.
Eric: My off grid home runs very, very reliably without any fossil fuels.

Bob: As a free American you are free to do whatever you want to meet your electricity needs. I hope as an American you would respect my right to obtain my electricity as I choose. As good fascist or commie would be all for forcing me to do what they want - not what I want. I trust you support my right to chose.

Eric: The cost to adopt renewables is constantly getting cheaper.

Bob: Absolutely wonderful. At some point the market will guide people to use the most economical source of supply. As a FREE AMERICAN I would like to be the one who makes that decision. I trust as patriotic American you support my right to make that choice.
Eric: The days of cheap, easy to get fossil fuels are over. I'm predicting a peak of all oil production here in the U.S. before 2020. Wanna bet??

Bob: I simply remind you of Jimmy Carter and his sweater speech. My memory is that you are a man of science. You should know better than to be obsessed with limits.

Eric: Everyone has a choice.

Bob: Amen - everyone has a choice. Hopefully it is a free choice - not a Gestapo enforced choice.

As you know I utterly reject the politics of limits and the politics of energy coercion. When I am lied to my cockles are raised. I feel the green energy lobby has lied to the world and has worked as good Fascists to intimidate alternate thought and opinion. From my perspective the whole agenda of the left is sold with lies and more lies - as shown this year by our own Dear Leader.

If your ideas are good - sell them with logic - not lies and intimidation. Encourage alternate thought and open debate. I hope you realize how much guys like Obama and Gore destroy the legitimacy of your arguments. The intimidation tactics of the left are apparent in every issue of debate from Ducks to energy.
