Now here is a mutual Fund Idea that I have contemplated on an annual basis.

Using just Fidelity Sector Funds.

Determine the five or ten worst performing funds at the end of the year. Determine their average gain or loss for the period.

Determine the five or ten best performing funds at the end of the year.Determine their average gain or loss for the year.

Then determine how they fared in the following year. I would estimate that the bottom five outperformed the top five in subsequent years.

A lot can be said for bottom fishing in stocks or mutual funds or just fishing.
