"But the state still faces real fiscal challenges, including the debt it amassed by issuing bonds and dipping into funds reserved for schools, mental health programs and other special purposes in order to make ends meet. Even more threatening are the huge unfunded liabilities in state pension funds such as the teacher retirement system, which holds about $70 billion less in assets than it owes to future retirees."

Ah Jim - one does not have to be in California to read the stories. Booze - lol - it appears I am more aware of your state follies than you.

"I've never been in favor of the high speed rail as proposed."

Double LOL Jim - what was proposed and voted on has been completely forgotten - you do know that - right - being so sober and aware of the drunken spending of the pols that run your state. Sadly the common sense of the midwest did not migrate west. But then again we have Detroit - government of the unions for the unions and by the unions.

BTW - how will San Jose pay their bills - grab your wallet!

PS: I do need to go hungry the next couple of days to make up for the last 24 hours.
