It looks like greater Ottawa has a population of about 2/3s of greater Cleveland. It is a bigger city than I thought. If nat gas has made it to eastern Ontario it would be a serious consumer. ottawa.ca As for coal - my grand parents had a coal bin in their house and a coal furnace. I believe that changed in the 50s.
