>> the point was not that people who smoke are stupid... most people start at a young age and get addicted... and i don't think you can find any smoker who would claim it is not unhealthy... and some people definitely get more addicted than others

The long-term consequences of smoking are better understood today than they were in the mid 70s, when she supposedly finally put them down.

I get a little perturbed, however, at the idiocy of people who suggest that a person with a given frailty can't at the same time be prescient or brilliant or even genius. As the idiot Obama so commonly remarks, "... walk and chew gum at the same time." (which, apparently he cannot do). We know that numerous brilliant individuals have been addicted to various drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, or suffered from schizophrenia or bipolar disorder or other diseases. What idiot would complain about Stephen Hawking's inability to climb a rope?

>> the point was Ayn Rand claimed that smoking cigarettes was not harmful, she even attacked the anti-smoking lobby... very stupid... maybe after she got lung cancer she finally wised up

Yet, her understanding of government was impeccable. She knew, for example, that Medicare and Social Security were both failures before almost anyone else realized it. Now, only fucking idiots think they're good programs. Doesn't she get some credit for being right about that?
