I thought the subject was Co2, which FYI is odorless and color less so you may want to clarify what you just wrote.

The subject was whether or not that stuff coming out of the stacks is black. The stacks at a coal fired plant have very few aerosols. It is mainly H2O and CO2. And it isn't black. It is white...it is steam.

So why did the authors of that article use an altered photograph? And why did you choose to post it?
