In the early 1900's the workers had to fight the plutocrats like hell to establish unions to get fair pay and safe working conditions. Business wanted to pay slave wages, put workers in unsafe working conditions and workers were treated like dogs.

Unions changed that.

Oh, well isn't that something.

I thought Henry Ford changed that. Remember, the union hater Henry Ford. And how he just voluntarily gave those big raises to $5/day because he wanted to do the right thing by his employees? He wasn't being selfish. He thought he could make money by paying his employees enough that they could buy cars. You know, like Churchill's standing in a bucket while lifting oneself up by the handle?

So, which is it? Did Henry Ford's altruistic view of business help employees? Or did the unions, which Ford hated?

You people want to have it both ways.
