Dec 10 (Reuters) - Robertson Stephens analyst Tony Robertson cut his rating for Finnish telecom equipment maker Nokia Group (NOKSa.HE) Wednesday to market underperformer from market performer, a spokesman for the firm said.

-- He also cut his rating for Nokia's Swedish counterpart, Telefon AB L.M. Ericsson (LMEb.ST) (Nasdaq:ERICY - news), to market performer from long-term attractive.

-- Further details were not immediately available.

Tero - I'm wondering what analyst Tony Robertson is thinking. "market underperformer" is pretty negative. I wonder if that is the lowest rating that BA Robbie Stephens uses. And of course he waited until Nokia was well off it's highs of a few months ago at 100 and better. Analysts never cease to amaze me with their bad timing. After all those great system contract announcements, Nokia looks stronger than ever in that dept, and as for mobile phones sales to Asia: I read an article several months ago in WSJ where a Thailand businessman was quoted as saying "we can't give up things such as mobile phones. Having one is a sign of business success, and not having one makes a person look unsuccessful, and in Asia appearances are everything."

It's anecdotal evidence, and the market will do what it wants to. I just hope I can scrounge up some money to invest in Nokia before it goes back up. This 71 is a screaming bargain.
