Hi Fix: Thanks for the posting. I recall that Sakha has been trying to
secure those loans for some time. I remember first reading about attempts early this year or possibly last fall. This may open the door
for foreign companies to provide exploration funds and funding of
some of the more promising areas in Russia. A short term positive in
the sense that fewer discoveries in that area of the world. I think the
Mir pipe is one of their babies as well. It does reinforce the idea that
diamond producers in the future may be seeing less new production
out of Russia other than the few pipes currently under exploitation.
I still like a DeBeers controlled enviroment from a marketing standpoint as well. I think the rarity of large stones will continue to
trend higher., with the market for smaller stones stable.
