You guys just don't get it. As globalized corporations seek the lowest labor cost countries, and as those same corporations replace workers with software and robots, those jobs are NEVER coming back. Humans are going to continue to lose jobs to software and robots for the forseeable future.
As we measure recessions, the Bush Great Recession is OVER. That's because unemployment isn't part of that measure. Our GDP is rocking like never before. The markets are setting new highs. The wealthy and corporations are doing GREAT.
Working Americans, not so much. THEIR wages have been flat or declining since Ronald Reagan.
What happend was, the Bush Great Recession made what should have been a slow progression of rising unemployment, as domestic jobs were replaced by the lowest labor cost countries and workers with software and robots, into a practically overnight change.
Unemployment will only continue to rise. Robots and software will replace more and more jobs. What you conservatives are going to find a truly bitter pill to swallow is, the ONLY answer to this reality is some major socialism until we figure out how to run an economy with less and less people earning wages, paying taxes and consuming goods. The vanguard of those folks need help surviving NOW.
In your defense, I don't think the current government gets it either. They never bring it up. I don't know if they see the problem.
Government is going to have to go where the money is, tax the wealthy, tax the corporations, maybe even tax the robots, and transfer that money to jobless people who will spend it.
This isn't Obama's fault, it's not a partisan issue, it's just a technological change occurring in our society that is going to cause a vast social change. |
