But policy does inevitably led to the political does it not? Even though raising the cap does solve the fiscal problems of SSI what Republican can vote for this? What leads you to believe that the cap could be doubled in the near future--the shifting of political moons (and in what matter do the moons shift to accomplish this?)

I think a more gradual shift might be more feasible (one chained to the COLA index?) although don't how that plays out mathematically/fiscally.

Still have to get to Warren/Krugman on the subject.
