90-Year-Old Business Owner Sends Robber Running: "Why get scared? I've got the gun"

From out of Dayton, Ohio came George Hicks - 90 years old, packing heat and taking pride in his own laundromat, R & J on East Fifth Street.

He fearlessly confronted a robber-wannabe on the evening of December 30th by producing his gun from his jacket. "Why get scared?" he said. "I've got the gun, and he's running. It was just funny."

"When he shoved me, I jumped up and went for my gun and when I went for my gun I said I’ll blow your (expletive) brains out and he was gone".

Perhaps this was an easier feat for Hicks who had been beaten and mugged in 2010, when he did not own a gun. The unidentified robber in this incident allegedly had a gun and had asked Hicks to make change for a $5 bill. He cornered Hicks in the back room, and when seeing the open cash drawer said, "No, I want all your money." Then he pushed Hicks. Hicks pushed back and pulled his handgun. Hicks told dispatchers: The unsuccessful robber who fled is still at large. If you see him, tell him the Laundry Man sent you. And he's not scared. But, anyone with information about the suspect is also urged to call the Dayton Police Department at (937) 225-4357.
