US Dollar Index forecast for the week of January 6, 2014, Technical Analysis

The US Dollar Index initially fell during the week, but as you can see the 80 handle has offered support yet again. Because of this, looks like the market is ready to go a bit higher, and we are bullish of the US dollar in general anyway. That being said, the 81 handle will more than likely offer a bit of resistance in the meantime, so expect choppy conditions in the short-term, but we believe ultimately the US dollar will continue to gain so patience will be required to hold on to this position.
