Good analysis of the history

..don't necessarily agree with the new direction theory

..except the part about the danger of simply destroying the utility of the site by failing to comprehend why it has survived, ie the virtual community that must maintain the ownership concept

It is Texas level arrogance to believe that by acquiring the servers and the goodwill, one is free to make whatever changes they wish and retain the cache that has developed over 2 decades
