Why anyone pays attention to Goddard is mystifying. The guy is a fool (or plays one on the internet).

In 1906 Arrhenius calculated that a doubling of CO2 would cause an atmospheric temperature rise of 1.6 °C (including water vapor feedback: 2.1 °C), a value close to today's estimates. However, not anticipating the huge increase in fossil fuel consumption, he thought that the doubling of CO2 would take about 800 years and tripling 1000 years. The population increases in Canada and Siberia he predicted would happen in 1000 years or so. Get back to me in 900 years and we'll see if he was right.

Arrhenius thought that this warming would be highly beneficial to humanity as vast areas would become open to agriculture.
