Topper,
They had a 12 Million share offering today, which is what drove the price down. I believe they had 26.9 million shares before this. BED, PAG, are among REIT's that had offerings recently, then ran up 6-10% in the next 3 weeks. I fully expect this to happen to HPT, unless the market tanks, in which case it could take 3-6 months to recover. If the economy tanks, then I wouldn't want to own hotel REIT's, but I can't see that happening in the next 6 months at this time. I bought some BED at 20 and then it fell to 19-1/2 for the secondary, when I bought some more. I sold somet of this around 21 in just a few weeks. I bought PAG at 21-1/4 when it fell to 20-3/4 for the secondary. I sold some of this at 22-3/8 and 23-1/8 in just a few weeks. So... hopefully I'll get 35-36 in a few weeks on HPT.If it continues to drop, I'll probably double up on HPT if it drops near 30, and then more again at 27m unless I'm sure the economy is going into a recession. I'd bail out of some if I felt a recession was coming.
Richard
