LOL. I know you like to be glib, so I'll get cute, too. As predicted with AGW theory, the poles warm faster than the tropics, thus the Earth would have decreased meridional temperature gradients. Wouldn't this suppress such large meridional movements in temperature gradients? Look up Rossby waves. What a glorious set up that allows the temperature in Atlanta to drop below that of Alaska in the middle of winter.

Nonetheless, temperatures in both places are below freezing, so this must have to do with the melting of snow and ice :)
