Asked whether the White House could do more to facilitate a tighter relationship with Iraq, Mr. Faily said, “to a certain extent they can. But we are no longer in a period in which we had President Bush, who took ownership of that relationship.”

That's pretty damning. While the wheels came off the Obama administration a very long time ago, the foreign policy incompetence hasn't received the condemnation it deserves.
When I think back on the discussions we had here during the 2008 election season, some of us recognized that this man was utterly incompetent. Others -- those on the Left, were of course committed to Obama no matter what.
But there were some (one named "Michael" comes to mind, 'though I don't know what happened to him) who was fairly reasonable politically but just had a blind spot for Obama. He just could not see that this man had no qualification, whatsoever, to become president. I don't run in political circles and don't even know that many people, but I could easily have pointed to 100 people I know personally who were better qualified to hold the office of president. It was even more evident in 2012.
Now, we've got Gates -- one of the most impressive men in politics over the last 50 years, essentially saying, "This man is grossly incompetent." We have this guy above pointing out that Obama obviously doesn't comprehend the importance of the Iraq situation to the Middle East. And it is nothing new -- he essentially gave up the Bush progress in the area.
History will not treat Obama well for any of this. I just hope it is enough to take Hillary down with him, because resilient as it is I don't think we can tolerate a Hillary presidency. |
